Development Manager

TOP is hiring Project Development Managers to help progress a robust development pipeline of renewable energy projects across the U.S. with a focus on onshore wind. The positions will be in project management roles overseeing and/or supporting the multiple and varied work streams involved with renewable project development including but not limited to landowner and community interface, general commercial direction of technical support functions such as meteorology, permitting and transmission interconnection as well as being responsible for project development schedules and budgets. This is an opportunity for professionals with some years of renewable-specific or general energy development experience to continue to find successes and/or for an individual with depth of experience in a related field (e.g. real estate, construction management, etc.) but is looking to get more boots-on-the-ground experience in this exciting growth sector.

 

Responsibilities

  • Manages multi-disciplinary teams driving greenfield wind and other renewable development projects forward in all respects
  • Maintains project plan documents including schedules, budgets and key project files to keep organizational understanding frequently updated
  • Participates and/or leads strategic direction of projects through the development process
  • Communicates internally and externally on project goals and manages associated expectations in achieving milestones through the development process
  • Prepares and/or supports the preparation of proposals for offtake agreements, permit applications, interconnection applications and other project-specific documents used to advance development projects towards implementation

Qualifications

  • Prior experience in the renewable or traditional energy industry. Desirable project experience to include at least one of the following relevant activities:
  • Leading general project and/or real estate development
  • Permitting/environmental
  • Resource Assessment
  • Interconnection/Transmission
  • Electrical and/or civil engineering
  • Contract negotiation/procurement
  • Power marketing/energy trading
  • Well-developed and professional interpersonal skills and comfortable calling and visiting with people at all levels of the organization, as well as outside stakeholders, customers and vendors
  • Organized with the ability to simultaneously oversee multiple development projects
  • Basic knowledge of project commercial issues and project financial analysis
  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree
  • At least 3 years of relevant professional experience
