Women’s History Month doesn’t just honor the past; it celebrates women today who are elevating future leaders. is proud to support This One’s for the Gals (TOFTG), a non-profit organization that helps girls in grades K-12 with career exploration and workforce development. With a focus on the construction, energy, manufacturing and maritime industries, TOFTG talks to girls about careers in STEM, skilled trades and everything in between.
Last week, 84 eighth-grade girls from Wharton and East Bernard Independent School Districts in Texas gathered for an exciting day of energy career exploration and workforce development.
We were honored to support this latest Girl’s Day Out Build & Charge! Workshop:
– The workshop introduced students to the world of electricity, covering how electrical technicians and engineers work together to power our world forward
– Students had an overview of how electricity is produced and many career pathways involved
– The workshop covered safety best practices and the importance of conserving electricity.
– Each student had the opportunity to build and take home her own charging station!
The workshop was at no cost to students and chaperones. It was held in collaboration with the Wharton Economic Development, City of Wharton, City Development Corporation of El Campo, Hesed House and Workforce Solutions. Special thanks to Stephanie Hajducek, TOFTG Founder & Chief Visionary Officer, for her leadership and passion for promoting girls’ growth in STEM and skilled traded careers.
